Need help with computer cases?

im looking for either a computer case that lies flat on the table with the motherboard facing up (like the old ones from the 70's/80's) or a regular case (upright) that can allow me to rotate the cd drive so i may lay it down.

basically what i want to do is build my comp so my motherboard is facing upwards. logically i believe this to be better in regards to heating issues because as we all know, heat rises. if my comp was lying flat and motherboard facing up, all heat from the motherboard, cpu, graphics card would rise up and out of the case with out transferring heat to other components as is the case with the typical modern enclosures where heat from videocards rise to the cpu and northbridge etc.

my theory might be able to work if i found a typical case that allowed me to rotate my cd drive so i can then lay the case down with the cd drive in a correct position to function.

i dont plan on putting my monitor on top of the tower, i intend to run my comp with the top off (or side panel if its a modern case) so heat can be rapidly dispersed.

do you understand what i'm saying and trying to do?

any ideas on where i may find such cases?Need help with computer cases?
Maybe something like these:

Understandable what you're saying here, although it's not really a good idea to completely leaver the side cover off of any tower, however heat will be somewhat reduced by this.

Actually the case you are referring to is called a Desktop case, so all you need to do is search for those. I suggest looking first at Newegg.com and Tigerdirect.com as your first choice for case purchasing.

Search for SFF and HTPC cases for a more conventional case with improved heat management.
Well, first of all, this idea is plain stupid. Yes, heat rises but it doesn't make enough of a difference to do something silly like this.

Secondly, there are literally TONS of computer cases that solve the heat issue in an intelligent way. Lots of them these days have fans at the top to solve the ';heat rising'; issue. Check out the Antec 900 here. That's what I have:

Please get a good case and don't follow through with this hair-brained idea. You are going to embarrass yourself.
