I have an ';old'; PC - compaq sr1630nx,

I want to replace its case. However, i don't know how to ensure the mother board can be still used in new Case.

thanks. How to buy a computer case?
As long as the compaq motherboard is ATX standard you can use it in any standard ATX case (not micro ATX)How to buy a computer case?
First I'd do a lil checking on hp, or compaq website, and type in compaq sr1630nx and get the spec's of the mobo, look to see if you can find what kind of io plate in the rear of the pc, this must match, if you are now using a mid tower, get one and so on, check to see if the power supply that you will be using will fit, where are the usb's located , the front panel switchs and wiring must match the front panel pins on the mobo, and that is if the power supply comes with the case or not, and last make sure that the power supply will support the processor, size hdd, and any addtional items that you might add. bikinibeegee@yahoo.com
You have to determine the size and type of your motherboard and how much power it will need.

Compaq, however, is known for creating unusually sized motherboards, so I am not inclined to think you will find a replacement. They don't tend to make standard sized motherboards, they tend to be custom made.
All cases come in standard sizes, regular, mini, etc, check what size is the one you have and search for one with similar dimensions.
make sure its an ATX form factor case.. mid tower
